The Small Things - Saying Goodbye

A few months ago I wrote about the Mariposa Trust and the Saying Goodbye charity. Yesterday The Husband and I had the opportunity to attend one of their services being held in Bristol Cathedral. We were both a little unsure and apprehensive about what to expect. However, the service was aimed at all faiths and religions, and the setting, Bristol Cathedral, was beautiful.

The music was just beautiful and the prelude music had me in tears before the service had even begun! The poems that were shared, 'In Memory of Zackery Wasik' all about what makes a mother, and 'A fathers Grief', had The Husband in tears too. During the service we were given the opportunity to light a candle in memory of our babies and ring a hand bell for each child we'd lost. Listening to the bells ringing around the room was heartbreaking and adding my chimes was very difficult.

The service from start to finish was just beautiful and well thought out, I'd urge anyone who has considered attending a service to go.

Today I am grateful to the Saying Goodbye charity for offering these services, the chance to acknowledge our babies as having lived, being real and to remember their time with us, even if that time was only very short lived.
